So what is a game designer? That question has a lot of different answers because there are many types of game design jobs, roles and titles. Game designers function like engineers, don't necessarily have to have programming or scripting experience or art experience. They focus on game play , interfaces, and levels. They are visionaries.

Some example positions would include:
