How do I import a model into my video game

This is one of the most frequent questions that I get from people who are creating video games. And I will give you somewhat of an answer. There are different ways to do this and there are different types of model files. Some game creation programs require one type of file or set of files while others require another type. I do have a tutorial that shows you exactly how to do this when it comes to to programs that I use here in my free video game school.

First off let's define a model as being some kind of a three dimensional character that moves in various ways. A person that walks, shoots, jumps etc. would be a model.

Okay, The two programs that I use in this video game school that are very compatible with each other are Reality Factory (for designing games) and Milkshape 3d (for designing models) and I have extensive tutorials on both of these.

The main thing you have to think about here is that you are using the Reality Factory program to create a game. So it is the boss and it needs what it needs and only accepts what it accepts. In the case of models it needs models that are in a format called .act ( pronounced: dot aye see tee) That format is called "actor". and genesis 3d has a nice program that will help you translate the milkshape model into it.
